Lindsay Lohan being investigated in alleged Betty Ford altercation

Just two weeks shy of finishing rehab, Lindsay Lohan has landed herself in more trouble.

The troubled star is being investigated following an alleged attack on a Betty Ford staffer. The Palm Desert Police Department confirms to E! Online, "The incident involved Lindsay Lohan and another female adult who was a staff member at the location. Lohan was reported as the suspect in the investigation and the victim desired prosecution."

The altercation occurred on Sunday, December 12 with officers responding to casa de Lohan at 1:03 AM. LiLo lives in a sober house affiliated with the rehabilitation clinic. 

"The incident is being investigated as a misdemeanor, not committed in the presence of a peace officer; therefore no one was arrested at the scene," the police spokesman says. "The investigation is currently ongoing. Upon completion of the investigation, reports will be forwarded to the district attorney's office to determine if charges will be filed in the case."

The alleged attack falls within Lohan's probation period, meaning the "Just My Luck" star could spend up to six months in prison if convicted. For now, she is expected to get out of rehab on Jan. 3.
