Leighton Meester is 'Country Strong' with 'Summer Girl'
Is Gwyneth Paltrow about to get served? The star of the upcoming "Country Strong" (out Dec. 22) plays a Shania
Twain-esque country singer being overshadowed by an up-and-coming Carrie
Underwood type (played by "Gossip Girl's" Leighton Meester). And if the actresses are to be judged by their respective first singles off the soundtrack, Meester is the winner in our books. MTV News has the first clip of Meester's "Summer Girl," a cutesy pop-country jammer espousing the glory of flip-flops, sunshine and not needing boyfriends.
Compared to Paltrow's titular track, which she debuted at the 2010 CMA Awards, we've got to say this round goes to Blair Waldorf.

I'm confused, why isn't this on the soundtrack?
This is actually pretty good, and I'm not a country fan. Interesting how different it sounds from her song 'Somebody to Love". I like both.
She's talented, that one.
Gwyneth has a much more powerful voice . This one is good , but in a contest ...Gwyneth would win ....no questions asked . ..
yes
It is a catchy song and she has a good voice.
meh , give me Dolly Parton or Donna Fargo I love country singers who write the majority of their songs like those 2 gals do .
