Justin Bieber cancels on German TV show after tragic accident

Tragedy struck a German game show, causing Justin Bieber to cancel his scheduled performance.

"Just want to let my people in Germany know I won't be on Wetten Dass tonight as an accident has taken place and...we all don't think it is right to continue," reads his Saturday (Dec. 4) tweet. "Please pray for Samuel Koch & his family as we wait and hope for his health and safety. Germany I'm sorry we couldn't perform tonight but some things are more important than putting on a show. We will be back I promise. Thank u"

The 23-year-old Samuel Koch had been in the process of jumping over five cars during Germany's popular "Wetten Dass ...?" ("Bet It") when he was hit by the fourth car driven by his father, reports the AP. He fell over the car and hit the ground with his face. After the accident, presenter Thomas Gottschalk decided not to continue the live show. It's the first time in the 20-year history of the show that such a critical accident has happened during filming.

Koch was jumping using footwear that features a special suspension system that may have malfunctioned. He is suffering from multiple back injuries and fractures. After undergoing surgery Sunday, his condition is no longer considered life threatening.
