Hugh Jackman's 'Oprah' stunt goes horribly, hilariously awry

Neither Hugh Jackman nor anyone else was seriously injured when his grand entrance to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in Australia went seriously sideways on Tuesday (Dec. 14). So it's OK to laugh at the video above.

According to numerous reports, including one from Australia's ABC network (which provided the clip above), Jackman was entering Winfrey's show at the Sydney Opera House on a zipline. He told Winfrey that he failed to engage the brake quickly enough, and as a result he crashed into the lighting rig above the stage.

"That was so much fun until the end," Jackman joked. "I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbor, saw my dad, the kids and you, went to pull the brake and then boing."

Jackman was tended to by paramedics after the accident; he suffered a cut and some bruising under his right eye but was otherwise OK, save perhaps for a wounded ego. But at least he got a glass of wine for his efforts (a nice Australian shiraz, maybe), as seen in the photo below. He also introduced Oprah to Vegemite; she declared that she liked the Aussie staple.
