Annie Lennox no longer afraid of messing up, still messes up
While it doesn't come close to a Susan Boyle-level train wreck, Annie Lennox's performance issues on "Live With Regis & Kelly" certainly make up for awkwardness with good, old-fashioned irony.During her Dec. 14 visit to the series, the hosts ask Lennox if she was nervous during her recent performance at "Christmas in Washington."
"I used to get really, badly nervous, but I've been through so many things now," she says. "There's no point. I think there comes a point, as a performer, when you have to get over your stage fright."
"That's the right attitude," Regis chimes in, well past the age where he would give a second thought to nerves.
Lennox was then supposed to sing her new track "The Holly and the Ivy," only her band started without her.
She quickly put the kibosh on that, though. "Can we stop?" she asks. "Sorry guys." Now, we normally wouldn't even have any reason to point this out, but given the conversation that preceded it, it's sort of wonderfully hilarious:
The wise production folks at "R&K" put up a plug for her new Christmas collection while Lennox had a brief tête-à-tête with her band, which got us thinking... has anyone pointed out how absurd and horrible this album cover is?

Why was her stopping completely - after missing her entrance - less of a mistake than Susan Boyle.
Boyle's "trainwreck" was due to illness - while Lennox's was a pure mistake. They both needed to stop - why is Annie better? Because she looks like she's supposed to?
