AJ Burnett Divorce rumors: May have contributed to disappointing season

Among the slew of celebrity divorces this holiday season, NY Yankees pitcher AJ Burnett may be next.

Sports forums were buzzing Wednesday morning (Dec. 15) with talk of Burnett's possible split from wife, Karen. Word spread from a reference on the ESPN Radio show, "The Herd," which often includes talk of players personal lives. Host Colin Cowherd made reference to AJ Burnett's "terrible divorce" and continued that "he still might be going through it."

It has been suggested that Burnett was involved in divorce proceedings throughout the season, which many fans believe was a contributing factor in his disappointing performance on the mound. After speculations surrounding the athlete's mystery black eye, it is also believed that the messy divorce may have had something to do with it. 

Cowherd didn't stop there. He also says that Burnett's wife "was vindictive and spiteful. I don't even feel comfortable telling you everything. The stories are ugly."

A statement from the couple has not yet been released.
