Aaron Sorkin baits Sarah Palin, compares her to Michael Vick

Sorkin joins the recent chorus of criticism for Palin's admittedly gleeful shooting and disemboweling of a Caribou on her show -- something the former governor probably anticipated when filming her hunt.

"Unless you've never worn leather shoes, sat upon a leather chair or eaten meat, save your condemnation" she says on her Facebook page, punctuating the statement with a smiling emoticon.

This does not sit well with Sorkin, who, in a Huffington Post editorial, explains why taking issue with Palin's pastime doesn't make someone a hypocrite, just because they eat meat.

"Like 95% of the people I know, I don't have a visceral (look it up) problem eating meat or wearing a belt," he writes. "But like absolutely everybody I know, I don't relish the idea of torturing animals."

That suggestion of using the dictionary seems to imply that Sorkin is speaking directly to Palin, maybe hoping for a response. (She does read any and all magazines, remember?)

"You weren't killing that animal for food or shelter or even fashion, you were killing it for fun," he continues. "You enjoy killing animals. I can make the distinction between the two of us but I've tried and tried and for the life of me, I can't make a distinction between what you get paid to do and what Michael Vick went to prison for doing."

Loaded words indeed. But does he have a point -- or is he just giving the situation more attention than it deserves?
