'The Fran Drescher Show': Calling Rosie O'Donnell, Maura Tierney, Dan Aykroyd, more
"The Nanny" star Fran Drescher isn't playing around when it comes to her new
talk tawk show on FOX. The network will be airing the show in six markets for a three-week trial and she's calling in the heavy hitters for when production starts in L.A. next week.
"I called in my friends like Rosie [O'Donnell] and Danny [Aykroyd], Kirstie Alley, Maura Tierney and people that I really know," Drescher tells Zap2it. "And I'll continue to do that throughout the run."
With friends like that, who needs a talent booker? But, Drescher isn't just calling in her celeb pals. She also plans to bring on other people from her life who can shed some light on the star and share some knowledge with her viewers.
"I want the show to have a familiarity to it," she says. "And I think that when I'm with people that I already know details about them, it's easier to converse on a more intimate level, on a more real level."
From her caterer to the guy that does reflexology on her dog to her boyfriend who took care of her when she was recovering from cancer surgery, viewers can expect to learn a lot about the star in the process.
"I think that it's going to have a little bit of a reality edge to it," she says. "Because the audience is going to see me with almost everyone in my personal life."
"The Fran Drescher Show" premieres on FOX stations in Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Orlando on Nov. 26.
