Sparky Anderson, foul-mouthed MLB manager, dies from dementia

sparky-anderson-gi.jpgGeorge Lee "Sparky" Andreson, a Major League Baseball manager with three championships under his belt, has died. He was 76.

The former ball player died of complications from dementia on Thursday, Nov. 4, a day after his family placed him in hospice care.

Anderson began his official baseball career playing for the Santa Barbara Dodgers, then the Pueblo Dodgers, the Fort Worth Cats, Montreal Royals, the Los Angeles Angels, the Phillies and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

As a manager, he led the way for the Cincinnati Reds to win the championship in 1975 and 1976, then the Detroit Tigers in 1984. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as a manager and the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

Anderson was well-liked for his strong principles, astute leadership and particularly colorful speech. In this interview, he peppers his speech with profanity, yet still somehow comes off as pragmatic and charismatic.

RIP Sparky

I'm just curious about one thing... if you take the time to publish an article about a great baseball player and coach, why can't you take 30 seconds to read the article one more time and see that you spelled the mans name wrong?! I really wish I could meet the guy that wrote this article because I'd buy him a dictionary. Completely disrespectful if you ask me.

I'm guessing this is the first time the author has ever heard of Sparky. "It's a f*ckin joke when you have to come home and (read) bullsh*t like this...that's all I have to say!" RIP.

What a disgrace - the man is a legend and this is how you title you article? Shame on you, I doubt you've never used foul language before.

I loved Sparky! Sure he was colorful with his words but he was a great manager and a joy to watch. Rest in peace!
