Mike Tompkins teaches 'Today' anchors how to make a viral video

Mike Tompkins is a YouTube sensation. He sings popular songs a capella -- doing all the voice parts and instrumentation himself. His "Teenage Dream"/"Just the Way You Are" video has over 4.7 million views and his "Dynamite" video has over 2.1 million.

He appeared on "Today" Monday (Nov. 15) and showed anchors Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Al Roker and Ann Curry how to create their own viral video. Watch the clip above and tell us how you think they did.

We've also posted a couple of his videos below. His YouTube channel can be found here. He's pretty awesome, no?

I was in a hospital waiting room and could not change the tv channel. It was a 4-star eye-roller. I find it hard to believe that everyone involved don't feel like total fools.

Mike was a good sport, and the Today show crew... well, I mean they tried. And if nothing else, they showed that you can't dismiss videos like this as production or expensive equipment - there is talent there. It'll be interesting to see what other videos they take on.

This was embarrassing to watch. Love the guy that helped them out, though - he has REAL talent.
