Madonna on 'Ellen' credits gay community for her career
Queen Madge has decided to speak out against the bullying that has led to suicides of gay youths.
Madonna appears on Tuesday's (Nov. 9) "Ellen" and although it's a lighthearted beginning to the conversation, she quickly gets to the point. She's "disturbed and saddened" by the suicides and wants to have a conversation about it with DeGeneres.
Not only does Madonna related to feeling alienated in high school ("I was a weirdo.") but she also realizes just how much the gay community has done for her over the years.
"The gay community has been incredibly supportive of me," she says. "I wouldn't have a career if it weren't for the gay community."
We like Madonna's very reasonable and compassionate take on things.
