Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade: Give thanks for Kanye West, plus Jessica Simpson's free single

macys-tgiving-kanye-jessica.jpgWhat says Thanksgiving more than Kanye West's "Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy"? 'Ye took to the NYC streets for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade to bless onlookers with a live performance featuring songs from his new album.

Seriously, though, we're thankful for Kanye this year -- he kept us entertained not only with his new album, but with his Twitter rants and raves. We're also thankful that 2010 brought us constant reminders of the crazy stuff Kanye has done in years past, thanks to Taylor Swift's song "Innocent" and former President George W. Bush's memoir promo tour. The gifts that just keep on giving.

West was one of many performers to rock out for the New Yorkers daring enough to brave the cold weather. The newly-engaged Jessica Simpson sang (yes, apparently she still does that on occasion) her newest single, "My Only Wish," which is actually not the same as Britney Spears' "My Only Wish (This Year)" which has been re-released on this year's Now That's What I Call Christmas 4.

If you dug Simpson's song, it's free on iTunes for a few more days!

We loved the performance from the cast of Broadway's "American Idiot," too. Keri Hilson performed "Pretty Girl Rock," which isn't exactly holiday-appropriate, but we'll take it, and we loved seeing Kylie Minogue and Juanes -- and the unforgettable Gladys Knight.

The musicians were also joined by plenty of TV personalities - mostly from NBC and Nickelodeon, like "Outsourced" star Ben Rappaport and "iCarly's" Miranda Cosgrove, who hung out on a float surrounded by "minions" from her film "Despicable Me."

This isn't a parade. It's a variety show. Where are all the bands and floats? This sucks!!

Kanye West was a Thanksgiving gift? He is just an insult to the entertainment industry, devoid of any class or self respect. Zero face time is all he is worth.

I give thanks to whom thanks is due. Conway West is NOT it! Some one is not reading comments on Kanya or you would know he is NOT welcome to our Macy's Day Parade!! He is RUDE and OBNOXIOUS!

I heard he said George Bush hates Thanksgiving...and Parades...and puppies.

Agree with Bill. Was there a parade at all? I think I saw some band behind Al Roker at some point. Other than that, it was just interviews for NBC shows and broadway shows. It is that difficult to air a parade? That parade is a joke from the networks. Only way to see it I guess, is to go.
