Jessica Alba in Elle: 'I know I haven't been swimming in the deep end'
Jessica Alba is tickled pink by comedy and cites some of her favorite comedians in the latest issue of Elle magazine, on newsstands on Nov. 17."When I was a kid, I watched Lucille Ball every day," she reveals in the December issue. "I watched Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Peter Sellers."
For the "Little Fockers" actress, comedy is a way to open up.
"I'm shy. I don't like being the center of attention," she admits. "But when I do comedy, I lose all inhibition and introspection. I no longer care."
Alba, 29, is the mother of 2-year-old Honor Marie with actor Cash Warren. Being a mother has changed the way Alba has approached the way she chooses roles.
She explains, "The time I'm not spending with my kid has to be worth it, so when I sat down with my agents after I was ready to go back to work, I told them: It's all about the directors. Now I prefer I'm not the lead. It's a totally different approach -- way better."
That's not to say she doesn't appreciate her past work like "Into the Blue" and "Honey." Alba is just practical.
"I know I haven't been swimming in the deep end with some of the movies I've done," shes says. "I wasn't trying to. I knew what they were."
"Little Fockers" with Ben Stiller opens on Dec. 22.
