'Glee' star Charice sings 'Jingle Bell Rock' at Rockefeller tree lighting

Minuscule Filipino pop star Charice Pempengco may currently be AWOL on "Glee" -- where she signed on for Season 2 only to run off with rival show choir Vocal Adrenaline in episode 1 -- but she's certainly making it clear how much she loves the holidays.

After singing a duet with David Archuleta at the tree lighting at The Grove, in Los Angeles, earlier in November, she headed to New York for NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center."

Joined acts like Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue and a much-improved Susan Boyle, Charice held her own, as always, with a rendition of "Jingle Bell Rock."

Though we wouldn't be true to ourselves if we didn't acknowledge that this song was long ago ruined to us. It's just not the same without Gretchen Wieners' ill-fated pantomiming.

Here's Charice's performance -- and, for good measure, one of our favorite scenes from "Mean Girls":

How is Charice a "Glee star"? She showed up for about ten minutes on the first episode of the season. I constantly forget that she is supposed to be a part of the cast. Stick with "Filipina singer" or something along those lines.

@Lacey

The hate. Whew.

A breath of fresh air! What a great rendition of Jingle Bell Rock to share the joy of Christmas to everyone!

@Rj- Not "The hate." Rather, "The Truth."
Love Charice, but she is very clearly not a "Glee star" by any means. She's a star and she was on Glee, but she is not a star of Glee.

Very nice!

wow... what a rendition.. totally awesome

@Lacey

Charice signed on for 10 episodes this season of glee. I would call her a glee star.

I saw this performance live, and she sounded great as always

Author Mikey O'Connell was indeed right to say that Charice is a Glee star. If he said " the Glee star " then your point is correct. A star is a certain quality an artist brings into a show that people remembers the moment she walks in and the moment she walks out. An actor can be on a show for an hour and not make a presence and people would not even remember.

Charice certainly stood out at the Rockefeller Center event.

@Lacey

No need to pretend...she is a real Star unless you are blocking your brain from reality.
Do you even know the current events ? Please do yourself a favor...accept reality and move on.
