'Glee' star Charice sings 'Jingle Bell Rock' at Rockefeller tree lighting
Minuscule Filipino pop star Charice Pempengco may currently be AWOL on "Glee" -- where she signed on for Season 2 only to run off with rival show choir Vocal Adrenaline in episode 1 -- but she's certainly making it clear how much she loves the holidays. After singing a duet with David Archuleta at the tree lighting at The Grove, in Los Angeles, earlier in November, she headed to New York for NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center."
Joined acts like Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue and a much-improved Susan Boyle, Charice held her own, as always, with a rendition of "Jingle Bell Rock."
Though we wouldn't be true to ourselves if we didn't acknowledge that this song was long ago ruined to us. It's just not the same without Gretchen Wieners' ill-fated pantomiming.
Here's Charice's performance -- and, for good measure, one of our favorite scenes from "Mean Girls":
