Giada de Laurentiis: John Mayer rumors are 'malicious untruths'

giada-de-laurentiis-gi-300x450.jpgGiada De Laurentiis, known for her easy grin and approachable Italian cooking on Food Network, isn't smiling following rumors spread by a tabloid.

The celebrity chef is firmly denying the Star's story that she was seen being cosy with musician John Mayer in New York. In fact, she wouldn't even consider them friends and was actually with her husband, Anthropologie designer Todd Thompson, during the weekend in question.

The full statement from De Laurentiis' rep:

"It is a shame a media outlet such as Star needs to rely on disgraceful lies and hide behind false anonymous 'sources' in order to entertain their readers.

"When the Star reporter approached Giada De Laurentiis on Sunday, while she was co-hosting a children's cancer fundraiser, Giada responded unequivocally that she did not see John Mayer when she was in New York for the Food and Wine Festival. Furthermore, contrary to the claims of an anonymous 'source,' at no time did Giada step foot in the Gansevoort Hotel.

"Giada indeed met John Mayer briefly at a charity event in 2007 but has not seen him since. To be clear, they are not friends and cannot even go so far as to call John Mayer an acquaintance.

"There is not a sliver of truth to Star magazine's story. It is unfortunate Star would publish these malicious untruths without reporting the fact that Giada was with her husband Todd that weekend in New York, along with their family and friends. Giada De Laurentiis and her family deserve an apology and we demand an immediate retraction."

So there you go, Star. If you can't take the heat of the truth, stay out of Giada's kitchen.

De Laurentiis is best known for "Everyday Italian" and mentoring the finalists on "The Next Food Network Star."

[UPDATE: Yes, it's "Everyday Italian," not the erroneous "Easy Italian" as previously printed ...  although her recipes are indeed easy to follow.]

It's "Everyday Italian" - not "Easy Italian"

Ditto what Aaron said. I love Giada! Her recipe for chicken caccitorre is absolutely delicious and I make it often. Her books are filled with tantalizing meals. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Perhaps it's time to go hit the kitchen.

I think that Easy Italian mess-up might have been a Freudian slip from the writer.

So he got sick of Taylor Swift-Just another notch in his guitar--Way to go John!!!

Touche'

Known for her easy grin and approachable Italian cooking. I know her for something else -- John Mayer

Some of the best cleavage on television.

That is a shame, she has huge ****, I hope John gets to see them!

IF you bothered to watch her show you would see she is a devoted wife. This type of gossip is only to sell gossip papers at a pretty girls expense.

I was with her that night, and she's not that good! She almost poked my eye out with her giant nose.
