'Burlesque's' Christina Aguilera opens up about her divorce to 'Ellen'
Pop diva Christina Aguilera will be on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Friday, Nov. 19, where she'll open up about her divorce, turning 30 (Ellen surprises her with an early birthday cake) and making of "Burlesque," which we're really hoping is the love-child of "Showgirls" and "Glitter." When asked how she is handling her divorce, Aguilera says, "My focus first and foremost is my son Max. More power to single moms and those out there doing it. He's the love of my life. I adore him and he's such a character and he's so happy and at the end of the day, that's what's most important." All together now: Aww.
Aguilera, who turns 30 on Dec. 18, says she's excited to reach the milestone birthday. "You're more comfortable in your own skin as a woman. You have a better idea of what you want and how to get it," she says. "At this time in my life, it's a huge turning point, it's a transitional stage and I'm ready. I'm ready." To help celebrate her birthday early, Ellen has a shirtless guy pop out of cake with a rose for the star. Happy birthday, indeed.
She also opens up about choosing "Burlesque" as her first foray into film. Orginally, Aguilera intended to start off with a small role in an independent film and stay away from musicals. "Didn't quite turn out that way starring in a movie with Cher and taking on such an ordeal as a musical," she tells Ellen. "Wearing so many different hats. It was a lot of work. Probably the hardest I've worked my whole life."
