Willow Smith's 'Whip My Hair' video premiere: Watch out, Rihanna

Nine-year-old Willow Smith took us all by surprise with her first single, "Whip My Hair," and the video is even more awesome. With parents like Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, we probably shouldn't be shocked that Willow has more charisma in her pinky finger than half the artists twice her age.

We love Willow's awesome heart-shaped hairdo, and the dramatic way she brightens up an otherwise colorless world - just watch it, and you'll see what we mean. Her "I Heart Me" t-shirt is completely justified.

Willow is already proving to be pretty good competition for plenty of other pop artists. Watch out, ladies, there's a 9-year-old vying for your spot! On a scale of one to ten, where do you rate Willow's first video?

wow, cute kid. she's really her father's daughter. hope she stays a kid for a while longer. :)

I am so loving the song and the video. In this day and age, it is refreshing to hear a great song and see a great video that is non sexual and fun. I smiled the whole way through it.
Hats off Willow. Keep up the good work. I would totally let kids watch this.

No wonder Jay-Z signed her! She is her fathers daughter!

go head

I'm not impressed to be honest. Sure seems like mom and dad are pushing their kids into the spotlight and I wonder about that...

I think the video is great, I wouldn't say that Will and Jada are pushing their kids into the spotlight. I think if you have talent you just have it, you do have to look at the fact that the kids do come from a background of talent. Great song Willow and stay in school I find you very intelligent for your age. My kids love the video and if they had the talent then I would be 100% behind them as well.

i dont think they pushed them, kids can be hard at times. i think she is trying to out compete her brother, but i can stop watching the video,i wish she was my daughter.

OMG, that is the cutest thing EVER!

First, what I didn't like:

-- It's not a song I would want to hear a lot. A bit too repetitive for my taste.

-- The face shrapnel at that age ... I don't really like that. Willow is so cute, she doesn't need it, no matter how many diamonds are in it.

Now, what I like:

-- It's a cute, positive video.

I might be wrong, but I can't think of any other videos where black women so proudly show off their hair. My hats off to this 9-year-old for making a song with a message that her dad should have sung about decades ago.

-- Willow is just as cute as she can be, and a great dancer.

-- I don't listen to a lot of hip-hop; I'm a white male geezer. But it seems to me like there are too many songs with negative images for all women these days.

Both country (my first choice) and hip-hop are very sexist in playlists and how they portray women.

I think that's one reason why young women love Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler and Miranda Lambert, because they write songs that empower young women.

So, again, bravo to this young lady for writing a song promoting a positive image for young women.

next week they gon' take a 5 year old and make her a Lady Gaga..
she is freaking 9!!!
don't ya have better things to do with your money, Will?!
wanna mess her up like you did with jaden?
