Taylor Swift 'Mean' bullying song: Listen now
If Taylor Swift s "Dear John" is about John Mayer, we're wondering who inspired "Mean."The latest single (now available on iTunes) certainly sounds like Swift has experienced something very personally. First of all, she's using that second-person style of addressing someone in her song.
This doesn't sound necessarily like an ex-boyfriend or Kanye West. In fact, it kind of sounds like she's addressing a co-dependent bullying relationship at school ... maybe at school?

I like it, especially how she has gone back to her country roots unlike the other songs that we've seen so far from this album like Mine and Speak Now.
This song must be targeted at the "mean girls" from her school days. Don't all schools have that one really mean girl that everyone fears?? I know ours did.
I doubt it's a school bullying thing. She's said all the songs on the album are from personal experiences over the last two years.
My guess is that it's targeted at music critics who have said she's struggled with live performances. She has extra emphasis when she sings "I can't sing" so I'm going with that as my guess.
