Mel Gibson on Zach Galifianakis' 'Two Ferns'? Probably not
Hopefully, you've seen "Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis," "The Hangover" star's amusingly awkward web talk series (on Funny or Die) where he interviews stars like a non sequitur-spouting film dork.
He's skewered the likes of Sean Penn, Michael Cera, Jon Hamm, Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Ben Stiller, Bruce Willis, Jimmy Kimmell and Steve Carell.
If you have seen a "Ferns" or two, then you will love watching how "Good Morning Texas interviewer" Gordon Keith imitates Galifianakis' "Ferns" style so adeptly that it even throws Zach for a loop.
Initially taken aback, maybe even a little annoyed, Zach -- currently starring in "It's Kind of a Funny Story," "Due Date" and HBO's "Bored to Death" -- eventually plays along with Keith.
On his blog, Gordon calls the Zach interview the "highlight" of his life (after his birth) and has made "Don't forget to smell Emma" his new ring tone. And no, Galifianakis was not "in on it."
OK, call us crazy but we'd so love to see Mel Gibson get either the Gordon Keith grill or the "Two Ferns" treatment.
But after reading that Zach was allegedly responsible for getting Gibson's cameo out of "The Hangover 2," we doubt that will ever happen.
"When it comes to "a movie you're acting in" Zach said in an Comedy by Death Ray interview, "you don't have a lot of control - you just show up and vomit your lines out. I mean, I'm not the boss. I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something. But I can't get the guys to... I'm not making any leeway."
As the Dish Rag reported yesterday, the "Hangover" director Todd Phillips issued a statement about Mel's casting not having the "full support of the film's cast and crew."
Too bad Zach is so anti-Mel. He could probably annoy Mad Mel so much in an interview that he'd lose it like he did in those infamous F-bombed phone rants and lunge at him, knocking down the "Two Ferns."
