Mariah Carey: I'm pregnant!

The celebrity press has been speculating for months about whether Mariah Carey is pregnant. Carey put that speculation to rest Thursday (Oct. 28).

"Yes, we are pregnant -- this is true," Carey tells "Access Hollywood" in an interview that will air on Thursday's show. She and husband Nick Cannon broke the news to "Access" anchor Billy Bush and also opened up about some of the struggles they've had, both in dealing with the constant rumors and with a miscarriage shortly after their wedding.

"It's been a long journey. It's been tough because I've been trying to maintain a shred of privacy," Carey says.

Rumors that Carey was pregnant began swirling right after her wedding to Cannon two years ago. She took a pregnancy test and found out she was, only to suffer a miscarriage about a month later.

"It kind of shook us both and took us to a place that was really dark and difficult," she says. "When that happened, I wasn't able to even to talk to anybody about it. That was not easy."

Carey says in the interview that she's still fairly early in her pregnancy, and the baby is due in the spring. Cannon adds that they're happy they can finally share the news with their family and friends.

"The greatest gift on earth is a child," he says. "We've had names picked out from the first day we met and we want to stay true to that."
