Lisa Blount of 'An Officer and a Gentleman' found dead
Oscar-winning actress and producer Lisa Blount has died. She was 53.The actress, who was perhaps best known for playing the friend to Debra Winger's character in "An Officer and a Gentleman," was found dead in her Arkansas home on Wedensday, Oct. 26 by her mother, reports the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
A local coroner places the time of death two days before. Blount's husband, actor-screenwriter-director-producer Ray McKinnon, was not in town at the time.
Blount was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas in July 1957 and raised in Jacksonville.
In "An Officer and a Gentleman," playing the rather cynical Lynette Pomeroy earned Blount a best supporting actress Golden Globe nomination.
Blount and her husband often collaborated on work, and in 2001, she won a best live action short film Oscar for producing "The Accountant," in which McKinnon had starred and directed.
Her other acting credits include "Great Balls of Fire," "Box of Moon Light," "Chrystal," and on TV, "Moonlighting," "Picket Fences" and the short-lived series "Profit" opposite Adrian Pasdar.
