Katy Perry and Victoria's Secret promise a ta-da moment

katy-perry-costume-institute-gala-2010-gi.jpgIt's not easy to top yourself when you've worn a bra of whipped cream, your low-cut dress offends Elmo and company, and you arrive at your wedding on an elephant.

But Katy Perry's outfits for "The Victoria Secret Fashion Show" will be fabulous, says designer Todd Thomas.

"She has been a great partner for the show, and for us, as collection-makers, she has been just a dream," Thomas tells Zap2it. "I have gone to her and her stylist, Johnny Wujek. Their ideas are insane."

That, of course, is insane in the best way. Perry, on her honeymoon with Russell Brand, insists on pushing the fashion envelope and having fun.

"It's a race as to what we can do more, better! More, more!" Thomas says.

Perry and Wujek will review a sketch, and say, "'Great, but can it have it pyro? Great, but can it catch on fire when she walks out on the runway?' Yeah it can," Thomas says.

As a designer for 20 years, Thomas appreciates Perry's fearless fashion sense.

"She speaks to an idea of skewing appropriateness of what is expected of women, and expressing this strong beauty," he says. "She is a breath of fresh air. When she showed up at the Met ball, (Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala) with the light-up gown next to all the fuddy-duds, in their Marchesa -- they were playing it so safe -- and she shows up ta-da!"

He promises that the show, airing Nov. 30 on CBS.
