JK Rowling: More 'Harry Potter' books are possible
It's been three years since "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" first hit bookshelves, and fans still hope to return to the magical world. On "The Oprah Winfrey Show" Friday (Oct. 1), author J.K. Rowling says she could possibly write two more books in the series.
"They're all in my head still. I could definitely write an eighth, a ninth book," Rowling says, setting Potterheads' hearts aflutter. "I think I am done, but you never know."
If you think you have an emotional connection with the books, think again. After Rowling finished writing "Deathly Hallows," the final book in the series, she mourned.
"It was a bereavement. It was huge," she admits. "Initially I was elated, then I cried like I had never cried before. And only twice in my life have I cried like that, [the other] when my mother died."
In a way, both are tied together in the author's heart.
"The odd thing is -- this is life, isn't it -- the books wouldn't be what they are if she hadn't died," says Rowling. "I mean, her death is literally on every other page in the 'Harry Potter' books. At least half of Harry's journey is to deal with death, what it does to the living, what it means to die, what survives death. If she hadn't died, I don't think it is too strong to say there wouldn't be Harry Potter. The books are what they are because she died."
During the interview, Rowling also discussed her history with depression, her rise to fame and how she still doesn't feel the impact of her wealth.
The first part of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" film will be released on Nov. 19.

She's really burning through those HP dollars, ain't she?
Two more Harry Potter books would be epic! Potter fans and Warner Brothers would go absolutely ape schat.
doesn't mean there will be a book released anytime soon.. you can't stop something you started over 20 years ago and expect to ride it out ... look at star wars.. 3 films was fine but had the need for more to it .. and Lucas delivered.. with HP.. there is a 19 year gap still unaccounted for.. some misadventures with Hogwarts but I really don't think it would hold the same charm as the original 7 books
OK, this is NOT a surprise - she has those characters for all this time in her head, it's tough to let go. As for more of HP - JK could write indefinite numbers more - the sky is the limit. HP could become a teacher at Hogwarts...together with Ron & Emma - JK has set herself good with them, infinitely it seems. Kudoos to JK - wish I had half her money - would go to Tahiti tomorrow.
I am so psyched about more HP books! Bring it on.
I would love more Harry Potter!
I think that two more possible books would be epic. I personally would love more Harry Potter books
This isn't a surprise! She has said this before.
Uh no...nothing will be as epic as Voldemort, so why bother.
Do a follow up in around five to ten years...set in the time period of the Epilogue from Deathly Hallows. It would take at least three years for her to complete the book in the first place, if not longer. Then another year or so for Harry Potter movie.
