Jay Leno and Matt Lauer discuss President Bush, Katie Couric, other hard-hitting topics
Conversation on "The Tonight Show" tends to stick to the superficial, but on the Oct. 25 episode, Jay Leno got guest Matt Lauer to open up about politics and talk of a possible shake-up at "The Today Show."
Lauer was the only member of the press to score a sit-down with former President Bush on the occasion of his memoir's release, and Lauer hopes it will reap some intriguing material. "When you stop and think about what President Bush experienced in office," Lauer explains to Leno, "from 9-11 to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and Hurricane Katrina, and so many other things... the financial situation. It should be really interesting."Or maybe he's saving the interesting stuff for the book. Leno also brought up rumors that Lauer's "Today" co-host Meridith Vierra might soon leave the daytime series. "I would hope not," Lauer says. "I will chain her leg to the desk. It's good to have a rapport with the person you're working with."
He was a little more cagey on matters of Katie Couric, who's long been rumored to have an unsteady position at the CBS News and open to going back to her old gig. "I don't know," says Lauer. "I think that people get bored and they have nothing to talk about. I have a co-host. I love Meredith."
And so do we. Don't go anywhere Meredith!

Oh please. Meredith already has one foot out the door. The woman is hardly ever there! Anyone notices her she's always off on Mondays? Then it bleeds into Tuesday and before long it's "Meredith is taking some time off".
It just throws the whole dynamic out of snyc. I've started watching the Early Show. It's fresher.
Please. Fox is the place to get the news in the morning. She probablly can't stomach the leftist clap-trap that they push, and gets sick in the morning just thinking that she has to put that junk out. I know I would.
I love how people who support Fox News never seem to acknowledge that they're pushing an agenda too. What a double standard. They'll complain all the time about the "leftist" news media on all the other networks but conveniently overlook Fox does the same thing but for the far right. Hypocrites.
indysteve-when you grow up and fianally have a brain THEN comment, until then try to get smarter
I love Foxe!
FOX NEWS SUCKS!!!
I find that half the information on Fox News is exactly the same as what is on CNN, NBC, etc. (minus the obvious Obama worship); the other half is information that CNN, NBC, etc. ignore.
Most every evening show has genuine Liberals or Progressives on with Conservatives. There is intelligent debate and everything from "mutual respect" to "agree to disagree" to "contentious behavior". Then I get to decide for myself who and what to believe.
It's all the same BS anywhere you turn to...ever think that there may be just way too much news out there now?
Timbo - so everyone who doesn't agree with you doesn't have a brain, huh? When you grow up maybe you'll learn to spell. Keep watching Fox News. You fit right in.
Indysteve is right!!!!
