No 'Hangover' for Mel Gibson, says director Todd Phillips
Mel Gibson won't be appearing in "The Hangover 2." And his pal Jodie Foster is gonna be so bummed.
Despite the fact that fighter Mike Tyson, a convicted rapist, starred in the first "Hangover," Gibson, who hasn't been convicted of anything in a court of law, is persona non grata for the sequel.
Reports this week leaked about the actor/director -- now most famous for his foul-mouthed racist, misogynistic phone rants to his ex-girlfriend Oksana Gregorieva -- would play a tattoo artist in the raucous comedy. But now comes news that ... he won't.
Now we know you are all very disappointed by this shattering bit of uncasting news. Here's a statement from director Todd Phillips released by Warner Bros that doesn't really explain it:
"I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew," Phillips said.
We have to wonder what this says about the future of Gibson's career and Foster's film "Beaver" starring Gibson as a wacky guy who thinks his beaver hand puppet is real. Will any studio release it now?
What do you think about Mel being uncast? Tell us in the comments section.

Good call, IMO. I have no intention of going to another Mel Gibson movie. Too bad, he was such an entertaining actor.
i think they should've left Mel in the movie.
Well, Jews didn't want him in the movie, because they are anti-Mel. Mel is Christian so by extension the Jews are anti-Christian.
Jew is the new Nazi!
A jew got Mel kicked of the movie... big surprise...
Good point about the logic of allowing a CONVICTED rapist star in a movie but a convicted NOTHING gets dropped. Hypocrisywood at its best.
Why not include the part about Zach Galafanakis being the reason why and protesting against it for moral reasons. But, it is ok to star in a film with a convicted rapist and woman abuser and a former drug addict whom also served time. Hypocrite.
Idiots. Zach isn't Jewish. And maybe you missed it, but Mel's recent madness was directed at women, not jews.
And the Tyson thing amounts to hypocrisy, sure, but Tyson's crimes were +/- a decade ago and he went to jail for them. Mel was campaigning for mandatory spousal oral services just a few months ago.
I admire Todd Phillips and Warner for trying to make this happen but I am disappointed that ultimately they had to succumb to the pressure of actors that would be no where without the Hangover 1 and the director who overlooked the fact that these actors had no beg names and yet chose to give them a chance.
Does does not have to be Jewish. Within his "moral reasons" why is co-starring with RDJ, Tyson ok but Mel isnt???
I find it kinda funny that a group of folks that made and are making a film that glamourizes getting so drunk they can't rememeber what they did think they even have a right to claim *any* kind of moral high-ground.
