'Gossip Girl's' Blake Lively and Penn Badgley split, remain 'good friends'

On-screen, "Gossip Girl" exes Dan and Serena may still have a chance to work things out eventually, but off-screen, a rep confirms that Penn Badgley and Blake Lively have quietly broken up after close to four years of dating.


"Nobody on set had any idea. They're really just private," a source tells Us, insisting that nothing has changed for Badgley and Lively at work.

Even the paparazzi constantly camped outside the "Gossip Girl" location shoots didn't catch wind of any problems between the couple. "They're professionals," says the source. "They're still good friends and hang out on the set."

They certainly aren't the first pair to continue to work together post-split. In fact, their co-stars Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr are notoriously on-again and off-again and on-again. We can't help but wonder if the writers will take this into account when Serena ultimately makes her Dan vs. Nate decision in the distant future.
