Ellen DeGeneres, Hillary Clinton get in the spirit for GLAAD's Spirit Day

Did anyone have any doubt that Ellen DeGeneres would go purple for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance against Defamation's (GLAAD) Spirit Day on her show? We love her even more!

Today's (Oct. 20) initiative asks people to wear purple in honor of those we lost to gay bullying recently and to show support for teens who are being bullied today for being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

Fort Worth City Councilman Joel Burns, whose "It Gets Better" video has attracted almost two million viewers on YouTube, appears on today's "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" wearing purple, as well.

Also, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton released her "It Gets Better" video just in time for Spirit Day (see below).

In addition to the celebrities we reported yesterday, many others have joined including:

- Hosts of "The View"
- Hosts of CBS' "The Talk"
Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on "The Today Show"
- CNBC anchors
- "Private Practice's" Kate Walsh
- "The Real Housewives of New York's" Alex McCord and Simon Van Kemp.
Alyssa Milano

To find out how you can join and to turn your Twitter and Facebook accounts purple for Spirit Day, visit the GLAAD website.
