Did Zach Galifianakis want Mel Gibson out of 'Hangover' sequel?

After Mel Gibson's sudden cancellation of his potentially career-salvaging cameo in "The Hangover 2," it's coming to light that maybe some of the film's stars weren't on board. Zach Galifianakis alluded to an issue in a recent interview. "A movie you're acting in," Galifianakis says, "you don't have a lot of control - you just show up and vomit your lines out. Apparently a "Total Recall" remake is in the works, and producers are honing in on an actor to play the part originated by Arnold Schwarzennegar. Atop the list, which includes Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender, is Colin Farrell. [THR]

I was looking forward to Mel in this pic.
Despite his recent rants on different races (I am African american BTW), I think he is a talented actor.
Would be a different story if he was sober and said those things.
What Mel said and did was stupid and insensitive. There's no doubt about that.
But what about forgiveness?
What Mel Gibson represents is more than just his recent antics, he has proven with his comments and actions to be racist and Anti-semitic. I can't blame any actor for not wanting to work with the guy. after all, the Hangover did very well in the box office and if the producers want the same or better for the sequel, better for Gibson to not taint the movie.
@notlost- despite what you think, Mel Gibson appearing in the movie would not taint ticket sales. For real man, whether you like him or not, your statement would have been proven false, because people like that sort of character irony in comedy films.
And what of Mike Tyson? A convicted rapist who did a prison sentence doesn't get shunned from the first movie? Interesting contradictions.
i think Mel being in the movie would've increased ticket sales. i feel some disappointment that his role fell through.

Mel should've thought about this before he did what he did said what he said to the mother of his baby. I don't care what she did to him, but where I come from, you don't hit a woman...especially when she's holding a kid & you don't threaten to murder her either. To me, it's 1 of those unforgivable acts.
