David Archuleta takes the 'Elevator' on 'Live with Regis and Kelly'
David Archuleta's new album went on sale Tuesday (Oct. 5), and on Wednesday he started making the media rounds.
The runner-up on Season 7 of "American Idol" performed two songs on "Live with Regis and Kelly" Wednesday morning -- but not "Something 'Bout Love," the first single from "The Other Side of Down." Instead he chose two other tracks from the album, the up-tempo "Elevator" and the ballad "Falling Stars." Both songs, along with an interview segment, are in the player above.
In the sitdown with Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, Archuleta explains the origins of "Elevator."
"It's literally about a dream I had. That's the first line - 'I had a dream last night,'" he says. "It was kind of like the movie 'Inception' or something. ... It's kind of reflective of my life right now. Which floor is the right one to get off on? I can't tell."
"The top floor," Regis replies with a knowing nod.
The hosts also asked him about new "Idol" judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. "It's kind of exciting," he says. "... I think it will be cool because they both have different audiences that they'll bring in."
What do you think of the two new tunes? (Minus the end of "Falling Stars" -- even the official video from "Live" cuts it off.)

Wow. He's grown up and sounds fabulous. Hate cutting off Falling Stars. Want that CD.
Love, Love, Love 'em!!
David was great! Really liked Falling Stars but the end was cut off! Am really loving this new album especially My kind of perfect and the other side of down!
Love both songs and David gives two great performances.
I've listened to David's new cd on repeat and first time ever I don't skip over a song. I believe every song on this album has the potential to be a hit single.
What an outstanding performance by David!! His CD is ingrained in my brain... (and my heart) and I love each and every song!! David truly can sing anything and make it sound so beautiful. He also has an amazing ability to put his feelings into words and music!!! He is just beginning his songwriting, and all I can say is we have so much to look forward to with his unbelievable
talents!!!
I updated the post with the official video from "Live" (which also includes the interview segment), but no better luck with the end of "Falling Stars." The show must've been running a little long.
Why is Something about love played on radio. He is gettingshafted.
Elevator's really differnt and has unique vibe, I like it a lot! Falling Stars's a easy listening midtempo ballad and David sounds good singing it, very identifiable voice. I'm convinced and buying the album.
Both of David's performances were fabulous on Regis & Kelly, loved it! Yes, he has matured a lot in the last couple of years. He's one amazing young artist. There are really no limits for David and I love his new album, it's my great listening pleasure!
