Bono on back surgery: 'I was losing the ability to walk'
Turns out that U2 lead singer Bono -- who recently had to postpone the band's US tour (and an appearance at Glastonberry music fest) to have serious emergency back surgery -- wasn't sure if he would ever walk again. Bono, 50, had a slipped disc in his back that then punctured a ligament and broke into two pieces.
"I was walking around saying I could handle it but it turns out I was in grave danger," he told The Age. "Those little bits that had broken off were starting to sever nerves in my spinal canal. I was losing the ability to walk."
In only ten weeks after the op, he was back onstage in Europe. He recently played Rome and San Sebastian, Spain. And he's at work on three new albums.
No keeping this rocker down.
