When once we got a kick out of Teresa Giudice's over-the-top spending habits on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," that changed  when news of her $11 million bankruptcy filing broke.

Yet, even as recently as Monday's (August 31) reunion special, Teresa didn't quite face up to Andy Cohen's questions about her finances. Yet in an interview with In Touch Weekly, Teresa and her husband, Joe, reveal how the bankruptcy has changed their lives.

"I was humiliated," she says when she found out about their debts from an attorney.

The housewife had further come under fire this season from viewers after scenes from the show aired in which Joe drops hints that their finances are in trouble.

Teresa says she didn't know just how bad it was, saying, "Joe thought things were going to get better."

Fans wondered if the housewife had learned anything when news that she went on a $60,000 shopping spree days after filing bankruptcy broke, but the couple say they've definitely made some changes.

According to them, Joe has taken the reins on their finances. He does all the grocery shopping, has limited Teresa's credit card use, and has their younger daughters wearing hand-me-downs.

"Me and my husband have learned a lot from our mistakes," Teresa says while she finds a positive side to the controversy. "It's brought us closer together."

Teresa reminds of the thief who was not sorry he stole, but sorry that he was caught.

Nothing about Joe and Teresa is on the up and up. How on earth did these two dumbasses accrue 11 million in debt? Who gave them that kind of money. We know that their lifestyle was not honestly earned.

Can't feel a bit sorry for her, since she's so damn nasty.

He took over the grocery shopping? What's that all about? She can't be trusted to buy groceries even? How do they still have credit cards?!?

I would like to know how many times Joe has been arrested for DUI and had his license suspended, also does he have a girlfriend? Just asking.

"me and my husband"? What a classy broad.

Change? The only change they will make will be giving less change (money) to charity.

What a piece of Garbage she is, we should all be responsible for her debt that she is trying to walk away from.

Wow! You are all very judgmental! This is really none of our business. People file for bankruptcy all the time.

Hey Ryan-- newsflash: people do not file bankruptcy for 11 milliion dollars all the time. And it is the public's business because this is a perfect example of what was (and sort of still is) wrong with the American financial system. Regulations are necessary to reign in these morons who "file for bankruptcy all the time" as you put it. Teresa and Joe are worse than stupid-- they're selfish and spoiled. And I'm also stupid for watching them, but it's like watching a train wreck-- you can't take your eyes away from it.

you are absolutely right, teresa has some nerve calling danielle trash and gargage, she should try looking in the mirror.

You can't trust this broad with money and another lesson to learn in understanding what the value of a dollar means when it is earned and not inherited and doing as you damn well please. Serves her right.
