Randy Quaid charged with burglary, was living in house without owner's OK

Actor Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, are facing burglary charges after the owner of a house in Santa Barbara, Calif., claimed they were living there without permission.

The catch, though, is that the house used to belong to the Quaids. When sheriff's deputies came calling Saturday (Sept. 18) after a call from the owner, the couple claimed they had owned the house since the 1990s, according to the AP.

A rep for the property owner, though, had proof from the man (who wasn't identified) say he had owned the house and an adjacent guest house since 2007. The guest house was also damaged, allegedly by Quaid and his wife.

Randy, 59, and Evi, 47, were both charged with felony residential burglary and entering a residential building without consent; Evi Quaid also faces an additional charge of resisting arrest. They were booked on $50,000 bond.

If this all sounds a little familiar to you, it's because the Quaids were also charged with burglary in Santa Barbara just about a year ago. In that case, the couple was accused of skipping out on sizable hotel bills at two resorts in the area. The charges against Randy Quaid were later dropped, and Evi Quaid pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge.
