Joseph Cerniglia's body found in Hudson River

joseh-cerniglia-gordon-ramsay.jpgA body found floating in the Hudson River has been identified as Joseph Cerniglia, a chef and restaurateur featured on Season 1 of Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares," New York police tell the Daily News.

The 39-year-old man was the chef and owner of Campania, a restaurant in Fair Lawn, NJ. He was pulled from the water around 3 p.m. Friday (Sept. 24) and while the cause of death is under investigation, no criminal activities are suspected, according to authorities.

The police responded to a 911 call about a body floating in the river, which came not long after another 911 call reported seeing a man jump from the George Washington Bridge, a suspension bridge connecting Manhattan and New Jersey.

Cerniglia leaves behind a wife and three sons. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at what is undoubtedly a difficult time.
