'Gossip Girl's' Blake Lively and Leighton Meester: Who's the next big screen queen?
"Gossip Girl" starlets Blake Lively and Leighton Meester are no strangers to rivalry. They duke it out on-screen as Serena and Blair, TV's ultimate fashionable frenemies. It's also been widely reported that the two are less than friendly off-screen. Now it seems like the beauties will be battling it out on the big screen as well. With the success of Lively's latest film "The Town" and the release of the trailer for Meester's "The Roommate", we couldn't help but wonder if Queen S or Queen B would be the first to pull a Mischa Barton and request to be killed off their hit show.
We decided to leave it up to you to decide who has what it takes to make it on the big screen and who will be left to fend off Little J all by their lonesome on the Upper East Side. Here's what you need to know about each gossip girl's film career before making this life-altering decision:
Blake Lively
Previous: Lively's first film was the super-popular "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", which spawned a successful sequel. She also has some indie cred on her resume with "New York, I Love You" and "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee". "The Town" won the box office this past weekend with a respectable $23.8 million.
Upcoming: Lively only has one film in the works, but in her case, the "quality over quantity" sentiment definitely applies. She'll be grabbing the attention of fanboys everywhere as Ryan Reynold's love interest, Carol Ferris, in the highly-anticipated "Green Lantern", set to hit theaters in June. If there ever were a time for Lively to truly break out, this is it.
Leighton Meester
Previous: Meester enjoyed some box office success earlier this year with "Date Night", though it can fully be credited to Steve Carell and Tina Fey. Before that, she starred in such classics as "Drive Thru" and "Hangman's Curse". Wait, you've never heard of them? Neither have we.
Upcoming: While Meester doesn't have a potentially massive superhero franchise in the works, she does have more upcoming projects so she does have Lively beat there. She has four films set to come out in 2011, the biggest being "Monte Carlo", co-starring Selena Gomez and Cory Monteith. "The Oranges" is an ensemble piece in which both Hugh Laurie and Adam Brody fall for her (lucky girl), while in "Country Strong" she plays an up-and-coming country singer. Last, but most certainly not least, is "The Roommate", which has the three C's written all over it: Campy, Cheesy, Classic.

I should be leighton but it will be blake...something about her bothers me
^agrees :/
LEIGHTON! She is so much more talented than blake. She can actually act. She has so many movies coming out soon and is going to be hollywood's next starlet.
Sorry, but when Gossip Girl end, Blake will be none. Seriously. She will make some movies and then nobody will remember her. She'll just appear in some events. Job? No, no.
Leighton has a real talent and everyone knows that. And the writers and producers either. Everybody want Leighton lol
Leighton for sure. she has talent and will be stick around for a long time. unlike blake.
Leighton is a lot better-looking. i agree with above comments, something about Blake bothers. can't understand the hype about that girl. finally, to the author of this article (Tierney), Gossip Girl is NOT a HIT show!!
