'Gossip Girl' sweethearts Blake Lively and Penn Badgley go to box office war

blake-lively-penn-badgley.jpgIt may not be all Xs and Os for "Gossip Girl" stars and off-screen sweethearts Blake Lively and Penn Badgley this weekend. The duo have dueling theatrical releases on September 17, with "The Town" and "Easy A."

So which of these clearly different movies stands the strongest chance of earning the most bucks, thereby giving its respective star bragging rights? Let's see how they stack up.

"The Town" is a crime thriller about Boston bank robbers who dress up like demonic nuns. And Blake has a supporting role, playing a rather busted version of herself: a single mom, with 20 miles of bad road behind her and a crook ex-boyfriend (Ben Affleck) -- like a CW version of Amy Ryan in "Gone Baby Gone."

"Easy A" is definitely friendlier to the "Gossip Girl" fanbase. (Think smart teen fare, a la "Mean Girls.") Lonely Boy plays romantic lead to Olive (Emma Stone), a girl who has gets a reputation for pretending to take her classmates' virginities. Unlike his girlfriend, Penn's role isn't much of a stretch from his "GG" persona.

Both movies have earned early critical praise, but only one can emerge victorious. So where will you be spending your money?

Easy A has been getting AMAZING reviews. Plus it has Lisa Kudrow. Can't wait to see it.

Well, now we know who won: The Town.
