'Glee's' Jane Lynch outs Julia Roberts to Ellen DeGeneres

"Glee" star and Emmy winner Jane Lynch's first visit to Wednesday's (Sept. 15) "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" starts out innocently enough, with Jane thanking Ellen for coming out as gay at the "height of her game," saying it made things much easier for those gay actors and actresses who came later.

"You know, by the time you get to our age, Ellen, there are no big deals anymore," Lynch says. "I used to lay in bed and go, 'How will I come out?' or 'Will I come out?'"

Lynch, who married Dr. Lara Embry three months ago, also thinks it was easier for her as a character actor than it would be for an "ingenue" like Julia Roberts whose fans are looking to identify their own search for love with.

"So you're saying Julia Roberts is gay?" Ellen asks.

Jane willingly picks up the joke, "She won't admit it. I'm here to tell you she's gay."

DeGeneres calls it "great" that Lynch is helping Robert open up about her sexuality, laughingly noting that she hopes "it doesn't hurt [Julia's] career."
