CNN anchor Don Lemon: 'I am a victim of a pedophile'

News anchor Don Lemon surprised not only viewers, but also himself when he revealed on live TV that he is a survivor of sexual abuse. "I am a victim of a pedophile when I was a kid, someone who was much older than me," he said during a discussion about the Bishop Eddie Long sex scandal.

Lemon was speaking with parishioners of the New Birth Baptist Church, where Long has been accused of sexually abusing several teenage boys. The members of the church expressed their support for Long and for the ministry.


"Bishop is known to be a mentor to young men, and I feel that his having interaction with this young man or watching TV with him is nothing. I don't feel that it was anything with a negative intention behind that," said one man, prompting Lemon's admission.

"Those are the things that they do, the language: 'this doesn't make you gay if you do this,'" Lemon explained.

Later, he took to his Twitter to further comment. "Thank you all for your kind words. I had no idea I'd say that on national tv. It just came out. Sadly, it's the truth for so many young men," he wrote.
