2010 MTV VMAs: Florence + The Machine get mad respect

British pop-slash-rock-slash-awesome music act, Florence + The Machine, couldn't be more excited about its four MTV Video Music Awards nominations: Video of the Year, Best Rock Video, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography.
"I wanted something that was striking and made me look a bit scary, so for it to be recognized at something as huge as the VMAs is the most incredible thing," singer Florence Welch tells MTV. "And I'm just really grateful for the opportunity to go. It's incredible."
On Sunday's Sept. 12 awards show, they ended up only taking one home for art direction, but it was their live performance that got viewers' attention. The redheaded Welch wore a flowy pastel dress on top of a circular platform and intense gothy dancers surrounded her.
"What we're trying to do is kind of encapsulate the video into a live performance," Welch says. "There's a lot of different characters in the video, and so I'm going to be trying to bring some of that. It's just about the energy of the song, for me. It's sort of energy and chaos."

Nice to see The Duchess of York found a new platform to make some money !!!
I loved her. Her voice was beautiful. One of my favorites of the evening.
The only thing "live" about this performance was the choreography. The vocals were clearly pre-recorded.
Obviously some have never seen flo live. Trust me her vocals were real, she never lip syncs. no need to she can sing.
She was not lip syncing!! unlike some of the other performers! This was by far my favorite act of the night. I had never heard of Florence and the machine til last night and thanks to itunes I own the album!
One of the best performances of the evening.
A lot of effort put into her show, with art direction. Not to mention that she sung live! It was beautiful!
Welcome to the U.S.A. Florence!
The performance wasn't lip synced, as verified by several reviews of people at the show. Google it.
