Miss Universe 2010: Miss Philippines Venus Raj still favored to win!
Miss Philippines, Venus Raj, still leads the pretty pack as the highest online ranked (3.54) contender for the Miss Universe 2010 title. She competes in tonight's show that airs live Monday, Aug. 23 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on NBC.
She has four stars compared to her closest (online ranking) rival, Miss Bolivia, who only has three stars for her rating of 3.07. Whew, this competition is intense!
Venus, whose name comes from the Roman Goddess of Love and Beauty, is from a poor background in Bicol, Philippines.
According to World Correspondents, Raj reportedly became a crowd and media darling after she fought to get her crown and title back after an error she made in her application regarding her birthplace was discovered.
Her "fight" for her right to represent the Philippines caused a public outcry so loud that the local organizers had to "save face" and finally reinstated her as Miss Philippines.

William Baldwin, one of the pageantjudges, asked Raj what mistake she had committed and what did she do to correct it. Raj, instead of capitalizing on her "fight" and I quote the above "to get her crown and title back after an error she made in her application regarding her birthplace was discovered", said she never committed a major mistake in her life because she is a confident person. When I heard this, I said "that's it for you, you're done, you lose."

I am also from the Philippines. We were cheering her on and so proud that she made to the top 5. When we heard the question we thought she'd nailed it because it was very appropriate based on what she had went through to get there. However, when we heard her answer, our jaws dropped. I knew that she would end up in 4th after hearing her answer. I preceived her answer to be too cocky. It's one thing to be confident, but one must remain humble. Nobody is perfect. She should have shown she has some weaknesses too, but overcame them. Everybody makes mistakes...this one, unfortunately, is her biggest!What a disappointment. :(
ONE WORD ... INTERPRETER... IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU KNOW HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH OR NOT.. JUST GET A FREAKING INTERPRETER... IT BUYS YOU TIME... IM A FILIPINO AND IT'S JUST SMART TO USE AN INTERPRETER TO GET SOME ADVANTAGE..
I believe it would be fair for all candidates to have one question only and compare all of their answers, because other candidates will get an easy question, some will get a question like Miss. Philippines, despite of her title as 4th runner up, she will still be Philippines pride. Being in the top 5 not easy to achieve but yet she did it.

Watch out for him.
The question given to her was perfect for her situation,her dethronment was a perfect answer.
But no!She was quite arrogant to say she never commited a major mistake in her life. Everybody makes mistakes, and we learn from our mistakes. She should have played her card and stayed modest.Well,this was the biggest mistake she made. Hope she learned from it!
I knew she would'nt win. Forget the final answer. She's just not that pretty and what the hell kind of name is Venus Raj. What is she half arab. Next year's pageant we should select somebody like a Krista Kleiner with an american or european blood.
I'am so proud of Ms Venus Raj (Philippines). We are all human being there are times that we come to a point that we dont even know what were thingking and doing specially if your on the spot already. But one for sure those who critize Venus if you to your self dont have mistakes commited then be the one to throw your insult to her. At least at one's she made herself proud of and also his country.
I'm from THE PHILIPPINES living in the United States. i've watched it, recorded it & watched over & over because i'm so excited & very, very proud of her representing my beloved country. she might not gave the "right answer" but everybody make mistakes.
