Remy Gonzalez of 'Cake Boss' accused of sexually assaulting a teenager
One of the star's of TLC's series "Cake Boss" has been arrested and charged with an ugly crime: sexually assaulting a teenager.Remy Gonzalez, the brother-in-law of "Cake Boss" star Buddy Valastro and a regular on the show set at Valastro's bakery, was arrested last week. The Star-Ledger of New Jersey reports that he's been charged in two incidents in East Hanover and Florham Park, N.J. The charges against him include first- and third-degree aggravated sexual assault, second degree sex assault, third-degree endangering and fourth-degree criminal-sexual contact, the paper says.
He's being held on $300,00 bail.
In a statement to TMZ, which broke the story, TLC basically says it's staying out of the case: "We support Buddy and the Valastro family during this very difficult and challenging time ... and as this doesn't involve us, we will not be commenting any further."
According to court papers, Gonzalez allegedly admitted assaulting the teen after witnesses confronted him about it on Aug. 13. In a phone call recorded by one of the witnesses a few days later, he reportedly acknowledged his admission but then backtracked from it, saying things weren't as bad as they were made out to be.
Gonzalez has thus far not made any statement to authorities.
