Rachel Bilson confirms broken engagement to Hayden Christensen

It's terrible to admit, yes, but was this a celebrity couple that anyone was ever rooting for? Former "OC" star Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen (the "Stark Wars" franchise) have been engaged for two years -- and an item for three -- but no more.

Bilson's rep confirms the demise of their union, telling People, "Yes, the engagement is off." Further explanation is left to rumors, but fortunately there's a lot of those.

We knew things weren't going well earlier in the summer, when word surfaced that the couple was taking a break.

People also reports that a lot of troubles were rooted in their largely long-distance nature of their relationship, with Bilson in LA and Christensen in Canada.

A Bilson friend tells people the actress is now "focusing on her career, spending time with her family and just moving forward."

Let's hope she pays special attention to the former. There hasn't been nearly enough Rachel to go around in recent years.
