JetBlue flight attendant Steve Slater -- beer, bye-bye and bail

steve-slater-jetblue.jpgSteve Slater is making headlines Tuesday (Aug. 10) as the JetBlue Flight Attendant who, when confronted with an unruly passenger who struck him with the bag she was removing from the overhead compartment, got on the plane's PA system, told off said passenger, grabbed some beers and exited the plane by inflating the emergency slide and soaring off to freedom.

A New York City judge has set bail at $2,500 for Slater, reports CBS News -- apparently he is not a flight risk. At the arraignment, in arguing for freeing Slater without bail, defense attorney Howard Turman said his client was under stress because his mother has lung cancer.

If you're a fan of Slater's actions (and who wouldn't be?), you can "Like" his personal Facebook page or the "Free Steve Slater" Facebook page -- combined they're up to 33,000+ fans. We applaud Slater's flight to freedom. Who wouldn't want to tell off a passenger who is being rude to you?

Our mom was a flight attendant in the 1970s. Once when a snotty 11-year-old boy was kicking the the man's seat in front of him, my mom told him if he didn't stop, she'd break his arm and lock him in the bathroom.

We just wish she'd gone rogue by way of the emergency slide.

Free Steve!!

I want to see the ignorant woman who caused all of this to begin with by ignoring the airline's policies and Fed's rules prosecuted!!! She deserves to be outed

I'm glad a passenger finally stood up to those rude ridiculous and now demonstrably mentally unstable flight attendants!

Lock him up and throw away the key!

Out the woman who started this whole mess when she ignored the rules. She deserves to be prosecuted herself!!!!!

I've never dealt with a rude flight attendant. If you have, perhaps you should examine what YOU have done to make then behave in a rude manner. You get what you give. Free Steve!

Steve did what I wish I could. So many people are total a..holes wanting someone to kiss there f...... a... As long it not them getting their a.. chewed. I would love to go to their employment and threat them like that. Steve is my hero. P.S. Bulls..t charges, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing. Pull **** out of your *** and see what sicks. The f..king

Standing up for yourself shouldn't be considered a crime... I really admire Slater. Too bad he has to pay the price of making the world see how customer service nowadays is so overrated... you're my hero Slater!!!!

Well, it IS funny, and what we have all wished we could do on our "last day at word"...however....Steve is obvouisly under tremendous mental strain. I hope he gets a suspended sentence with an order to get counseling. I too wish someone would out the hag that didn't belive the FEDERAL rules didn't apply to her! She should also be charged with reckless endangerment. I'm sick and tired of people like her!

if the unruly passenger hit him with her luggage, then maybe she should be charged with a crime as well.

right on!!!!
steve going rogue
go steve go!!
wish i would have thought of that
