Jay Leno jokes about Mel Gibson's drunk Nazi uncle. Funny or not?
"Mad Max" Mel Gibson has appeared on Jay Leno's late night talk show for over 17 years.
If you don't believe it, watch this highlight reel of Mel's many appearances where he burps, makes faces, imitates Sean Connery, dances a jig and rubs birthday cake in Jay's face.
But we can't imagine Mel agreeing to go on the "Tonight Show" again. Not after what Jay said last weekend.
Performing Sunday (Aug 22) at the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California, Leno opened with a crack about Mel.
"That Mel Gibson, huh? What a mess. Mel Gibson actually had an uncle who died at a concentration camp ... yeah, really," he told the crowd.
The audience was hushed. Leno said it again: "Yep, died at a concentration camp." After a few more seconds of silence, he cracked: "Yep, he fell out of the guard tower, drunk!"
No word on whether the joke got any laughs. RadarOnline got hold of Leno's rep who merely remarked, "He certainly holds himself free to poke fun at anything that deserves it."

Jay Leno's an a$$hole. I haven't watched his show since he stabbed Conan in the back.
Leno is funny and decent the rest should retire. Letterman is still so bitter about not getting the Tonight Show he gave himself a heart attack.
It really is time for Leno & Letterman to retire and this time REALLY go away.
Allen, Parr, Carson & King all knew when to quit....and STAY away!
Mel is soooo funny
Leno didn't stab Conan in the back, Space Cowboy, let it go, let it go, it will do you good, dude.
Leno is a two-faced, back-stabbing, jew-*******-sucker.

Say what you will about Mel Gibson's problems, but that was a tasteless joke by Jay Leno. The sad thing is, people have been out to get Mel Gibson from day one, regardless of whether or not all the facts had come to light. Sure, he made some bigoted comments, but they were supposed to be private comments in a moment when he was very upset for one reason or another. It was none of our business, and whether we choose to judge him or not, tasteless jokes like this one from Jay Leno should be called out just as much as Mel's comments. But they won't, because the two-faced hypocrites in Hollywood won't allow it.
@E.H.: you're comparing a joke to Mel's rage?? u can't be serious.
