Bride-a-palooza: Alicia Keys, Lisa Simpson weddings also this weekend

lisa-simpson-alicia-keys-weddings.jpgWhile the world's attention may have been turned to Chelsea Clinton's Rhinebeck wedding, there were two other celebrity brides who tied their respective knots to much less fanfare.

People reports that Alica Keys and Swizz Beatz, who are expecting their first child, exchanged vows at an intimate ceremony in the Mediterranean. Keys also wore Vera Wang and Beatz was quite debonair in a Tom Ford tux, complete with pink ruffles.

And, on a bit of a random note, Tumblr blogger funnybin points out that August 1 is the date of Lisa Simpson's wedding. Sure, she's a cartoon and permanently 8-years-old, but back in a 1995 episode of "The Simpsons," a glimpse of her future wedding invite revealed the date. See for yourself:

As any fan of The Simpsons would know, Lisa ended up not going through with the marriage after she found out that her fiance had insulted her father by refusing to wear the cufflinks Homer gave him, and then by telling Lisa that after they were married they would go back to his home in the United Kingdom and she would never see her family again (except her mother would be allowed to visit when they had children).

saw this episode of the simpsons, but missed those details on the wedding invitation. it's great great you brought this up.

I remember seeing the episode when it first ran and thinking "that's so far in the future". It's a heck of a thing for us to not only have caught up to a future event, but the show itself is still running!

Props to the animators for getting the day of the week correct, too!

Who know that "The Simpsons" would predict that the Clinton-Rhienbeck wedding would happen on the exact same day fifften years ago.

The Clinton-Rhienbeck wedding was on Saturday while the Simpson-Parkfield wedding was on Sunday. So the invite on "The Simpsons" should have said August 2 instead of August 1.
