Bravo's Bethenny Frankel joins Gisele Bundchen breastfeeding bash

Say that headline three times fast! After Gisele Bundchen revealed to Harpers Bazaar UK that breastfeeding helped her drop the pregnancy weight, she took it one step too far for some women when she advocated that all mothers should be required by law to breastfeed newborns for the first six months.

Now, new mother, Bravo reality star, and fellow breast-feeder, Bethenny Frankel, is adding her two cents.

"It's the most absurd thing I've ever heard," Frankel told Us Weekly. "Breastfeeding is one of the most rewarding experiences, but it isn't for everyone."

It doesn't take a supermodel (or even a reality star for that matter) to figure out that not all women have a supermodel budget or a supermodel's staff, so that they can afford the time (and the sleepless nights) it takes to breastfeed their babies for 6 months.

So, once Bundchen was whacked with a real world stick, she stepped back a bit from her previous statements.

"My intention in making a comment about the importance of breastfeeding has nothing to do with the law," Bundchen says on her blog. "It comes from my passion and beliefs about children."

She also writes, "I understand that everyone has their own experience and opinions and I am not here to judge."

And that's true. She didn't want to play judge. She just wanted to play armchair lawmaker - an out of touch with real women, self-righteous, rich, genetically blessed lawmaker.

Most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Breastmilk is free. Have you seen the cost of formula nowadays? Yes, the sleepless nights stink, especially when you have to get up at 6am to go to work, but it is all part of the journey of parenting. Being loaded with lots of hired help is not a requirement to breastfeed a child. The kid still needs to eat... someone is going to be sleepless! It was easier for me to stick the **** in the kid's mouth at 2am then have to mix the formula, get the water set, prep the bottle, etc.

Bethenny Frankel seems to be jealous. She probably need to find something else to talk about. Very few people are interested in what Bethenny, a want-to-be, has to say.

It is great that women have the blessing of ****** feeding. HOWEVER, there are MILLION of women who would LOVE to ****** feed but CANNOT. I don't think they should be punished for not ****** feeding.

I do think it is cruel to even suggest that the government should even consider such a law. Women who can't ALREADY feel horrible for not be able to.

Therefore, the women who can should just BE QUITE and GRATEFUL!

Be happy that you have the ability to do so!

bravo to princesspr

wow this hag is jealous much? shows. big time...
also I find it funny the only way she can get a mention on the press or on a internet gossip blog, is to mention a "supermodels" name. haha pathetic.true colors show about the people who have to talk bad/reference others to get their points across. Glad to see Gisele never talks bad about others, only HER life. kudos

Babies should be breastfed but we live in a world where the needs of the child are outweighted by the wants of the mother. Mothers don't want to stay at home and care for their kids-they'd rather farm them out to some else. They say we need the money-if you can't afford to raise your child then don't have them. We live in a have it all society and the ones that suffer are the kids.

If you dont have time for your child why did you have one. it is so selfish when mothers put there jobs first. Babies are not concerned about how much money u bring home, all they need is love especially from their mother, no one else will love your child they way you do. i understand that some women cant breastfeed but not breastfeeding cause u dont have time is disgusting to me. i dont have any extra money so dont think i am one of those mothers with a lot of money who can afford to stay home but i do because my son is my first priority, as long as we have a place to sleep and food to eat we are happy, and bethenny is the worst she is never with her baby its horrible

some mothers wholeheartedly want to breastfeed and can't because their child was born with parallized vocal chords and the mustles behind so they couldn't latch on and nurse. and Betheney is one to talk as she has to suplement her breastmilk with formula because her daughter was purposely born 6 weeks early which affects milk production/quality and besides that the baby was underweight by obver a pound at birth.
