'Bachelorette' Ali Fedotowsky's engagement ring cost $50,000

On the Monday (Aug. 2) finale of "The Bachelorette," Ali Fedotowsky received a stunning sparkly platinum engagement ring from her new fiance, Roberto Martinez. Here's the deets:

The ring had a platinum setting featuring a 3.03 center asscher-cut diamond, accented with 184 round brilliant-cut diamonds designed by Neil Lane. Estimated value? A mere $50,000.

Platinum is the favored engagement ring setting for Hollywood stars such as new brides Megan Fox, Carrie Underwood and Emily Blunt, since it holds diamonds securely and maximizes the brilliance of each stone.

But if you don't get a celebrity's paycheck, designers offer platinum engagement rings in a variety of celeb-inspired styles with prices that fit a civilian budget. 

We have a feeling that the producers probably gave Roberto -- an insurance salesman -- a little help to buy his ring. Either that or it was a promotional deal with the jewelers.

Either way, it's a gorgeous trinket! Let's hope the sparkles in their eyes lasts as long as the ring's sparkle.
