Vanessa Marcil, 'CSI: NY' star Carmine Giovinazzo get married

Once and future "General Hospital" star Vanessa Marcil got married over the weekend.

How do we know this? Because ABC put out the following statement on Tuesday (July 13):

"Please note that 'General Hospital's' Vanessa Marcil will now be known by her married name, Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo. On Aug. 11 she returns to 'General Hospital' as Brenda Barrett, the role she created in 1992."

The "Giovinazzo" in her married name is "CSI: NY" actor Carmine Giovinazzo. He and Marcil tied the knot on Sunday in New York. It's his first marriage and her second; she was married to Corey Feldman for a little over three years in the early '90s.

Marcil also has an 8-year-old son from a past relationship with Brian Austin Green.
When Marcil talked to Zap2it recently, she didn't let on she was getting married, but she did indicate how excited she was to return to "GH," where she got her first big break as an actress (she eventually won a Daytime Emmy for playing Brenda).

"It's a special show, 'General Hospital,'" she told us. "To watch Tony Geary [Luke] and Genie Francis [Laura] act ... when they came back on the show when I was there, I would sit on the set and watch those two and think, 'It doesn't get any better.'"

Here's hoping married live for Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo and Carmine Giovinazzo inspires the same sentiment.
