Takeru Kobayashi arrested at Nathan's hot dog contest
Takeru Kobayashi's dispute with Major League Eating meant he was out of the Nathan's Famous hot dog eating contest, but his presence in the crowd caused more of a commotion than expected.The Japanese former hot dog-eating champ was arrested by the NYPD on Sunday, July 4 after he tried to rush the contest stage following the victory of his nemesis Joey Chestnut, reports TMZ.
It's not clear exactly what he intended -- whether it was merely congratulating his peers or perhaps assauging his hunger after being left out of the contest -- but he was taken away by officers.
Oddly enough, he was already wearing a t-shirt that read, "Free Kobi."
Kobayashi, who had held onto the Mustard Belt for nearly six years before Chestnut came onto the scene, was charged with resisting arrest, trespass and obstructing governmental administration.
It's a disheartening turn of events considering Kobayashi hasn't won the hot dog showdown for three years, worked through an arthritic jaw and is locked in a contract dispute with MLE over his rights to compete elsewhere.

It upsets me when I read that someones employer has socialist tendency...It raises a big concern that American employers are taking an approach similar to China by making people work in a hostile enviroment...Hostile meaning not giving notice of required overtime or not telling you until you leave for work that you are required to work now on your day off....Then companies dont know why they are sued for overtime that they never pay and why employees form unions....Believing in free enterprize and capitalism is fantastic...but you must treat your people right if you want to have those successes...otherwise you fail to keep your troops together and it is your pride before your fall....The Conservative American...www.conservativeamerican.org
