Mel Gibson: Photo of Oksana Gregorieva's broken teeth released. Is it altered?

Five ranting audio tapes filled with Mel Gibson's threats, obscenities, racist and sexist remarks. Now a photo of Oksana Gregorieva's broken teeth?

Mel's reputation is sure taking a beating in the court of public opinion.

While his almost ex-wife Robyn Gibson defended Mel on Thursday (July 15) with a declaration to the court that he was never violent towards her or their children during their 28-year-marriage, a controversial photo of Oksana's chipped and broken front teeth has just been released on Radaronline.

The photos were allegedly taken hours after Gibson allegedly hit her in the face at his Malibu mansion. Oksana's two upper front teeth are clearly damaged in the photo.  Oksana has veneers, very common in Hollywood, which are custom-designed porcelain shells. They cost around $2,000 to 3000 per tooth and are bonded with resin cement to the filed down teeth. They are not easily damaged. It takes a lot of force to remove or break them.

The dentist who repaired the veneers, Dr. Ross Shelden, took photos of Oksana's mouth and turned them over to her lawyers. In his statement to the courts, Sheldon said he saw evidence of "blunt force trauma" as well as physical damage

But sources tell TMZ that her dentist, who has seen the Radaronline pic (which is not the one he took)  believes "100% the photo circulating on the Internet has been altered" and that he feels "the nose is not hers. The lips are not right. It's not a true and accurate picture."

However, he says the teeth are Oksana's, reaffirming that one veneer was damaged and one was broken.

Oksana has told police that Mel punched her while she held their infant daughter, Lucia, and that his blows broke her veneers and left her with a concussion. Mel admitted to hitting Oksana in  one of the five released recorded phone conversations. Mel told her "you f***ing deserved it" after she asked what kind of man hits a woman in the face, holding  a baby. In another screaming tape, he told her he would bury her in the rose garden. For good measure, he added, "I'm capable of it!"
