Kristen Stewart's 'Welcome to the Rileys' trailer: 'Twilight' this is not
Kristen Stewart is a household name because of the "Twilight" movies -- but it's the work she's done in between playing Bella that could set her up for a long and interesting career.
Her latest movie not involving pretty vampires is "Welcome to the Rileys," an intimate drama that hits theaters in October (it's already played at a few festivals and got good buzz and pretty good reviews at Sundance).
K-Stew plays a teenage stripper in New Orleans who catches the eye -- but not in that way -- of out-of-town visitor James Gandolfini. Gandolfini's character and his wife (Melissa Leo) have lost their own daughter, and he sees in Stewart someone who needs the help he still has to give.
Based on the trailer, Stewart more than holds her own with Leo and Gandolfini, two excellent actors. We already knew that she could do wounded and withdrawn -- see "Twilight," of course, but also "Adventureland" -- but she's also developing a knack for finding complex parts that take her far away from the world of "Twilight."
What do you think of the trailer? Will you be seeing "Welcome to the Rileys" this fall?
